Inbound marketing is a fantastic method for attracting new customers. What’s more, it works without spending gross amounts of money on paid advertising. You do, however, still have to get your great content in front of your target audience’s eyeballs. And this can be tricky sometimes, especially when you’re just starting out. Your website probably doesn’t have a high enough rank yet on search engine result pages, limiting the inflow of traffic from organic search. And few – if any – marketing teams know from the get-go exactly where their ideal customers spend time in the digital world. Luckily, there are some great platforms that allow you to connect with audiences already looking for the kind of information you want to spread.
1. Reddit
Reddit is the largest content aggregator site in the world, and the 25th most visited site on the internet. Its users can join any numbers of communities called subreddits. In these subreddits, members work together to find, curate, and discuss the best content relevant to the theme or topic. Popular subreddits with broad topics often have member numbers ranging in the tens or even hundreds of millions, and a successful post will likely bring in more traffic than your company website can handle. On the other end of the spectrum, extremely focused niche subreddits often still have several hundreds or even thousands of subscribers. These are great for creating extremely valuable leads. As an added bonus, links and posts that receive a high number of up-votes get a big boost in Google’s search results. Stunningly, few companies integrate Reddit into their marketing strategy.
2. Quora
Quora is a platform that allows people to ask questions based on one or more (often very specific) topics. Users can create an account and follow topics that they’re interested in as well. Quora is the 99th most visited website in the world, and home to a lot of intelligent and curious people. It’s not uncommon for good answers to receive hundreds of thousands of views. The only investment is a bit of time to browse and answer questions relevant to your business.
3. Medium
Medium wants to be the world’s premier publishing platform. Looking at the numbers, it is succeeding. It’s currently the 346th most visited site on the internet, having climbed a whopping 61 places in just the last three months.
Anyone can make an account and start creating and publishing great-looking content through the site’s easy-to-use WYSIWYG editor. Readers can vote and comment on pieces, and they can easily highlight and share interesting snippets or quotes through social media. They can also personalize their reading list, by subscribing to topics that they’re interested in. Medium’s highly sophisticated algorithm then determines the most qualitative and relevant posts for each user, and serves it to them through their personal feed and weekly reading digest.
Medium’s editors pick a number of interesting stories and topics every week. These stories are promoted and commonly reach millions of readers. All this makes it a fantastic traffic driving engine. And if that wasn’t enough, the platform is also highly optimized for search engines.
