What are touchpoints?
A touchpoint is any stakeholder interaction with a product, service or brand that occurs before, during and after a transaction.
Touchpoints are becoming an essential part of marketing strategy and an important part of communicating messages. To understand this topic in more depth, we have commissioned some research over the summer. We have a dedicated MSc Marketing student working with us whose sole task is researching touchpoints and their uses.
What are we doing?
We are exploring the area of touchpoints in the high-tech industry, conducting interviews and carrying out surveys.
Some of the questions we are asking include:
- How many touchpoints are currently used within the high-tech industry?
- Are there ‘optimal’ numbers of touchpoints in this industry?
- Are some touch points more important than others?
- Do touch points expire?
These questions will be answered by seeking out opinions through the aforementioned surveys and interviews. Data will be analysed and written up into a final report, with a summary of key findings presented separately for ease of use and dissemination. We plan to share this research with all participants.
